Robert Anderson

World Trade Organization (WTO)

Robert Anderson is Counsellor and Team Leader for Government Procurement in the Intellectual Property, Government Procurement and Competition Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he has worked for 19 years. In addition to his Committee work and advisory responsibilities in Geneva, he has led WTO workshops or given presentations on topics concerning his Division's areas of responsibility in more than 50 countries worldwide. He is also Honorary Professor in the School of Law at the University of Nottingham (UK) and is on the part-time external faculties of the World Trade Institute in Bern, Switzerland; the International Law and Economic Policy (IELPO) Programme of the University of Barcelona; and the International Master's Program in Public Procurement Management of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Prior to joining the WTO in 1997, Mr Anderson held various senior positions in the national competition agency of Canada (the "Competition Bureau"). He previously worked in the Saskatchewan (Province of Canada) Department of Finance. He holds a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (Toronto) and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He is editor of two books and author/co-author of more than 50 articles/book chapters on topics in international government procurement policy, competition policy, intellectual property and/or international trade policy.
