Objectives

The main goals of the course are:

  • To familiarize participants with the impact of logistics on firm competitiveness. After an overview on logistics strategy, the course will look at the trade-offs between logistics costs and service level, with their organisational implications. These principles will than be applied to different supply chain contexts: mature vs. innovative; local vs. global; lean vs. agile.
  • To familiarize participants with key logistics concepts supporting business strategy. An overview of the SCOR® model will be given as guiding framework. Background and key building blocks of modern logistics along the supply chain will be discussed with focus on the use in practice and highlighting critical process interfaces.
